AEROMATICS

Project

AEROMATICS aims to advance aeroponic vertical farming through a new generation of modular growing systems combining additive manufacturing, advanced sensing, IoT, artificial intelligence and sustainability-by-design. The project addresses current limitations in prototyping, modularity, root-zone monitoring and predictive control, while improving the environmental and economic performance of aeroponic cultivation.

AEROMATICS will design and validate innovative aeroponic modules in real greenhouse environments, using advanced sensors and AI-driven closed-loop control to optimize misting, nutrient delivery and growing conditions. Trials with strawberries, leafy greens and herbs, together with Life-Cycle Assessment (LCA) and Life-Cycle Cost Analysis (LCCA), will evaluate performance, resource efficiency, sustainability, scalability and market potential.
